Dr. Prathap Reddy, Chairman, CII National Committee on Healthcare & Chairman, Apollo Hospitals Group, aims to create 'Health India' brand to put India in the global healthcare map in the forthcoming 4th India health Summit

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII)  is organising 4th India Health Summit, 2007, in association with Indian Healthcare Federation (IHCF) at Hotel Hyatt Regency, New Delhi on 13 – 14 November 2007 with the theme "Healthcare Engagement: Strategies and Partnerships".

Announcing the exhibition and conference, Dr. Reddy said that seven verticals have been created to discuss contribution of health sector to India's economy and current GDP growth. India needs 400% growth in the health sector to meet the World Health Organisation (WHO) target and would require more medical colleges to encounter the shortage of professionals in the healthcare sector, he said. Government should reduce the excessive excise tariffs for the healthcare sector to reduce the burden of the common man, said Dr. Reddy.

Dr. Reddy said that private and public healthcare system should have common standards and research should be the priority of healthcare stakeholders. He said that the healthcare should be looked as a major employment generator for the country.
