IIRAFor the first time companies of the Central Germany chemical and biotechnology industry  presented their innovations and products to India at The CPhI India 2009 . This has been facilitated by Germany's Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) under the two year campaign "Research in Germany – Land of Ideas" A total of five companies from the German States Saxony-Anhalt and Saxony will explore research, development and market opportunities in India.

IIRAThe project runs under the slogan BioSPIn – Biotechnology Sustainable Partnering India,   "In the last decades, India has built an interesting branch structure with globally leading companies. India has the same spirit to create excellence in academia and research as our own community. For the companies in our cluster, India is a very interesting strategic partner and could generate further markets in Asia. We want to make our contribution to the internationalization of our innovation site", says Harald Wolf, project manager of BioSPIn.

The project was granted a year ago to support marketing steps in India. Since then, the BIO Mitteldeutschland screened the market and forged links for interested companies in the field of the so-called white biotechnology and fine chemicals and pharmaceutical specialties segments.

"India offers a new and promising market for our innovations and products. We want to strengthen existing contacts and continue to attract new Indian partners for cooperation in the field of innovative chemistry, "said Dr. Hans-Matthias Vorbrodt, managing director of Orgentis Chemicals Ltd. The company supplies specialty chemicals since 1991 and develops methods of synthesis.

Dr. Bodo Schulze, Chief Executive Officer of Organica Fine Chemicals GmbH adds: "We are looking for new opportunities in India to offer our research, development and production services in the area of highly complex organic synthesis." Organica offers custom synthesis of high-quality organic intermediates for the pharmaceutical and electronic industries.

Besides Orgentis Chemicals, Organica Feinchemie and BIO Mitteldeutschland companies Synthon Chemicals GmbH & Co. KG in Wolfen and the young biotech company c-LEcta from Leipzig represent the research network of Central Germany at CPhI India.
