Union health ministry has suspended the manufacturing licence of four leading state-owned drug makers for violating the good manufacturing practices (GMP)

Union health ministry has suspended the manufacturing licence of four leading state-owned drug makers for violating the good manufacturing practices (GMP) they were bound to follow –

-Pasteur Institute of India in Tamil Nadu,
-Haffkine Bio-Pharmaceutical Corporation in Mumbai,
-BCG Vaccines in Tamil Nadu and
-Central Research Institute in Himachal Pradesh.

These companies make vaccines for malaria, cholera, rabies, polio and various animal vaccines.  The suspension of licence would continue till such time they are able to make infrastructure changes in line with the prescribed standards.
