Lupin gets tentative nod for anti-depressant PDF Print E-mail

Lupin Ltd unit has received  a tentative approval from U.S. Food and Drug Administration approval to make and market escitalopram oxalate tablets.

Escitalopram oxalate tablets are used to treat depressive disorder, is the generic equivalent of Lexapro, jointly sold by Danish drug maker Lundbeck and U.S. firm Forest Laboratories. Lupin said its unit Lupin Pharmaceuticals Inc has got the approval to sell 10 mg and 20 mg doses of the drug and marketing would begin post Lexapro's patent expiry in March 2012.
