The College of American Pathologists (CAP) has certified Quintiles Transnational’s central laboratory in Mumbai, India. The central lab began supporting clinical trials in the first quarter of 2007. The facility has seen steady growth and has been adding services and analytical capabilities to a growing test menu.

CAP certification follows a site inspection. The accreditation is intended to improve patient safety by advancing the quality of pathology and laboratory services through education, setting standards and ensuring laboratories meet or exceed regulatory requirements.

In addition to laboratory testing, the Mumbai lab provides project management and logistical support, study specific laboratory kits for sites, local investigator support and samples management, storage and processing using consistent global methods. All laboratory data collected is globally harmonized and included in the Quintiles Laboratory Information Management System (QLIMS) and the protocol-specific database.
