ImageAhmedabad-based drug maker Torrent Pharmaceuticals has received final approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) to market Lamotrigine tablet, in the strengths of 25 mg, 100 mg, 150 mg and 200 mg.

Lamotrigine is used for the treatment of partial seizures and for long-term management of bipolar disorder.

On Nov. 7, 2009, the company got final approval for Risperidone, a drug used in Psychiatric Medicine to treatment cases of Schizophrenia.

The company manufactures bulk drugs and formulations in the therapeutic areas of cardiovascular and central nervous system and has achieved presence in gastro-intestinal, diabetology, anti-infective and pain management segments.

Shares of the company declined Rs 1.65, or 1.24%, to trade at Rs 131.10. The total volume of shares traded was 2,389 at the BSE (2.38 p.m., Friday).
