Mr Tapan Ray is appointment as Director General (DG) of the Organization of Pharmaceutical Producers of India with effect from January 1, 2008.
The Organization of Pharmaceutical Producers of India (OPPI), a premier organization of pharmaceutical manufacturers which represents primarily research based pharmaceutical companies in India has appointed of Mr Tapan Ray, as Director General (DG) of the organization with effect from January 1, 2008.
Mr. Ray will take over the charge from Dr Ajit Dangi, who retires on December 31, 2007 after working for OPPI for seven years.
Mr Tapan Ray has 30 years of national and international experience in the healthcare industry with pharmaceuticals, medical diagnostics, biotech, nutritional and hospital products business based in India and UK and worked for leading global pharmaceutical companies at senior levels.
He held various senior positions like international marketing strategy manager at Glaxo, UK, Director in the board of Glaxo India, Managing Director of Abbott Laboratories India, Managing Director of Kopran India, CEO and Director of Samilabs India, non-Executive Director of Biddle Swayer India.
Mr Ray was also the member of the National Drugs and Pharmaceutical Committee of the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII). Mr Ray who holds, BSc (honors) and masters degree in geology from University of Calcutta has been the president and vice president of OPPI.
